Writing of the past few months

Here is a collection of the various pieces I've written in the past few months, collected from various notebooks, scraps of paper, and AP government worksheets. Don't have titles for them yet.

----

Night is dark, like the crevices of woman
and, like life, mysterious
there is no telling what lies around the corner
high noon is when we are most stupid
when the world is laid bare on the examining table.
I prefer the distorted light
of three dim stars
who cross the cosmic highway, ragged and tired.
The great sound of silence,
trees breathe, crickets tune their violins.
Steam-horns spiral the mountainous night,
light beam and low brass become one.
Solitary traveler, Sonetlumiere.
Ah, sleep and sun, the great deceivers.

----

Today I saw the wallpaper
in my bathroom,
and noticed how nice it was.

----

"Oh, I hate you," he says to Decatur.
But Decatur only smiles back
and encircles its arms
even
tighter.

----

imagine
sounds like an old electrical plant
zoning through three levels of wood

And (to take a step back)
imagine a puffy cloud
outlined in bold colors, pimp-strutting to the bust-yo-shit beat of the streets
(hip hop)
and lightning bolts that periodically cause third-degree burns
which alight the shadowy contours of the cloud
to the pulse of a heart
which is crowned in thorns
and dipped in rat poison.
I'm not even dreaming,
cause yesterday I saw it sprayed against a red brick wall.

imagine sounds that sound
like The Who as they warmed up
before Mr. Hoffman was unceremoniously removed
sounds all angry and fluid

electrical runs
that dodge and weave and collide
like...Coltrane playing running back,
violent burst of brilliance (brilliant burst of violence)

----

Well, that's all for now. Not all of them fit the Japanese style perfectly. But they're all influenced by it. I've tried to stick to imagery and also employ a spare style that includes only the essentials.

You're certainly planning to put some of this in the literary magazine, yes? Very well done, and thank you for sharing!

Two more influences that I noticed in your writing: in the first poem (top of the most recent entry) Shakespeare's "7 Stages of Man"; later, ee cummings. Do you see a resemblance?

Very nice work--does any of this call to you to send it off?
